Yeah, I'm not good at being clear, am I?
To my understanding, folks from the US with a valid passport (and getting that passport should have been easy, but I made it hard for myself) can be in Schengen for 90 days, but can't work without risking a 10-year ban from the entire area. Getting working papers is pretty much impossible for anyone who doesn't have an EU passport or papers already.
I can go, take the course, and travel around a bit for 90 days, but I can't work there unless I am some sort of TESOL goddess and the Brits tremble in fear of my skill. That's what disappointed me. I'm even more disappointed that I didn't do enough research before thinking up all these grand schemes.
Sorry if I confused you!

Yeah, unless I demonstrate genius in the field that no European can match or get married, there's no real way to work full time without risking a ban. Oh well, just gotta back it up and pick a new path. Thanks for listening :)

Just looked into that-- it seems like Germany and the Czech Republic have less ridiculous visa laws. Perhaps my stupid dream of bumming around Europe for a year has been revived! Thanks, Cain!
