I don't know about your personal thoughts, but my friends who are here from other parts of the United States all say that being in New England/The North is the greatest accomplishment they could hope for in their lives.
You should be happy you are in an amazing part of the country, with so much collective unconscience, with so much life, vitality, and friendships.
Change is integral. It will happen. We all have adapted, we all have learned, hoped, and cared. You aren't a failure. Failure is neglecting to adapt. Failure is always saying yes, or always saying no.
Instead of procrastinating what you want, just fucking do it, and do it as quickly as possible. Don't rely on chance or time to alleviate your wants. Live for everyone who couldn't, isn't, or doesn't want to. Live for everyone, and everything, as being part of the beautiful system called existance.
