so, were i to get a new cellphone - and i'm not saying i am - what phone should i get? the jury will disregard the possibility that uncle steve will fire me if i don't get an iphone.

Wow. I used to have one of those! Is it safe to assume from the Sprint logo there that you need something that's a Sprint phone? Motorola sure seems to make some rugged-looking phones, but who knows. They don't make many phones without cameras nowadays!

I like the Palm Centro, but I can't vouch for its ruggedness. I have a Treo and it's been a champ through many droppings.

doesn't have to be any particular carrier - i've been with sprint for, well, 10 years now, but obviously my contract w/ them has long since expired.

The Nokia 5500 is the only ruggedised waterproof modern phone I know of outside of Japan. Not sure what the availablity in the States is though. If it's any consolation, it uses a webkit-based browser, so it at least shares code with the uncle steve phone.

And it's small enough to fit nicely in a boot (well, a big boot)
