Does adulthood mean anything? While talking to Hunter, we discussed this topic. He had this romantic idea of children, mortgages, and the civil suicide that is marriage. in our society sometimes not even time is a justifiable marker for adulthood. We are legally adults at 18, but can't even rent a car until we're (around) 25. Legally we can't consume alcohol until we're 21. But that's not to say that the minute we turn 21 we'll have the capacity to limit our intake, or even refrain from drunk driving. On the other hand, I know several 17 year olds who could probably file their income taxes properly, buy a car, and cook dinner for a family of six all while taking college class. It works both ways. I think adulthood (haha, i was about to put adultery. whoops) is subjective, that if a person is mature enough to be self sustaining, then they're an adult.
