I_reversebang #133 - Sketches and Ramble.
Ah. I debated f-locking these because it's just me babbling on. But I DON'T KNOW. Sorry if it's wankylike. I just like looking at other artists' process pics (sometimes more than the finished work) so maybe this will be of interest to someone other than myselffff??? If not, I'm terribly sorry for taking up space on your LJ feed. DX
Ahaaha, as most people on my flist and Twitter already know, I've been ill for something like the past month. It has not been fun. So in between bouts of huddling under blankets, I've been curled up in a blanketball at my desk rushing drawing. Most of these, all but the prologue iirc, were done in the past week or so inbetween work and uni, hah! My hands are falling off! XD
But I've been really lucky to be able to draw some fairytale style illustrations! I've poured quite a bit of love and selfindulgence into these, so please forgive meeee~!! I was only going to submit this one prompt at first but I'm really glad I did the other (science AU) as well because that gave me a chance to do illustrations in a different way to this. =)
The Drawing Process is what I wanted to post about because I was looking through some sketches and there were lulz but I think by the time I finish this post, I'll realise how unfunny everything is (except to myself, maybe), sigh~
I do everything in plain black ball-point because I'm cheap. What I usually do is scribble a rough layout at work because I can't properly draw then, and I'm usually itching to. Most of the time I don't bother but I actually did it for my reverse bang pics! *GASP*
This was the first pic I did, backkkk early when I had a lot of time and wasn't SICK. I read the prologue and worked out a couple scenes that were interesting and made a mishmash of them (first row). Then I do a pencil sketch which is the superfun bit to me! And unfortunately ends far too soon (usually about 30mins)... then all the boring inking and shading stuff happens. Then I scan it in and clean it up and darken bits. That's about it.
Here's an example which accurately demonstrates that I don't actually follow my concept sketch all that great. *fail* The placement of things change, the statue changes completely, I just don't follow my own instructions very well.. ;_;
This is one of my favourites, OMG DRAGONNNN~!! And the concept sketch, what even is it? AHAHAHA. There was supposed to be an angry!Arthur silhouette but.. but Ariadne just HAD to get in the way. You can also see that the dragon tail was a bit of an afterthought, but A/E TAIL LOVEEE~!! <3 <3 <3 As for the closeup, I-I..I just like DRAGONS, OKAY.
THIS IS THE BEST. I should have referenced kissy faces (WHYSOLAZY) but I was so happy with my concept scribble (MMM,CROISSANTS) that I scribbled some nonsense layout and just went on my happy way. ARTHUR JUST ISN'T VERY GOOD AT KISSING, OKAY. (evenifEames'lipsareimpossibletomiss)
