Very nice. I usually only use curves to brighten in my last steps, but have never used it to brighten the image right from the start. Shall try it this way next time and see how it works. Thanks for sharing.

i followed this tut from beginning to end, and my icon (used the same cap) doesn't end up looking anything like your result and i have no clue what i'm doing wrong D: did you happen to keep the psd? or can i see the layers somehow?
