Hey, it's me again :D
Here are two icon tutorias (+psd files), requested by kibbslover and red_fullmoon. Hope you'll find them useful :)
Made with PD CS2, both include selective coloring.

>>

01. Prepare your base. I used the smudge tool to fill the rest of the canvas with the elevator background and sharpened the image.

>>

02. Duplicete the base twice and set both layers to "screen" at 100%

>>

03. New layer, fill with a dark blue (#07122D) and set to "exclusion" at 100%. Duplicate that layer and lower the opacity of the second layer to 32%

A few people have been asking for a tutorial for the coloring in some of my recent icons. I'm using this icon from my last batch for the tutorial, becuase it has no textures in it. The coloring is pretty much the same.

Please note that this tutorial is based on a tutorial by trutdelamode (located here), so complete credit for this goes to her. I'm writing this tuto because I've been butchering it a lot and added some stuff...

1. Prepare your base, I cropped mine from a screencap from fnlstillness

2. Duplicate your base twice and set both layers to "screen" at 100%

>>

3. New layer, fill with a light grey (#CCCCCC) and set to "soft light" at 60%

>>

4. New layer, fill with a dark blue (#000235) and set to "exclusion" at 80%

>>

5. New layer, fill with a lighter blue (#9EDEF0) and set to "color burn" at 50%

>>
