[Mello's goals have lately shifted at their very core, and he's still feeling aftershocks from that seismic event. How do you reconcile perfectly justified resentment of a place and the people who dragged you here with wanting to stay? [L sits at a table in the library. Study carrels are available, but they're too closed-off; he wants to be able to see who is approaching, if anyone does. The stack of books in front of him is a mixture -- apart from some technical manuals and some dry nonfiction, there's a book with an intentionally tacky cover: Inherent Vice. It's a mystery.]

[Mello spots L soon after he comes into the library, and he's been meaning to talk to him for some time. He gives the lurid-looking mystery an amused glance, but refrains from comment, and speaks not in a whisper but quietly enough.]

[Toph is definitely not going to the library. She's just wandering, really, but the novelty of being able to do so to her heart's content is slowly wearing thin.

I don't know about the other [i.e., lesser] people here, but when I was growing up, the answer to any question was 'look it up.'
