[Matt hasn't said much since waking up that morning in hospital. He can't really remember the night before, but it was obvious enough what had happened ever before it was explained to him. Right now all he wants to do is go to bed for about a month, particularly since he knows things are going to get bad: he's really going to have to cut back on how much he's drinking.

The rigmarole of getting out of the car is handled for him, which he's relieved about even if it adds to his embarrassment. He's not even sure he has the strength to get up to his apartment.]

[Mello doesn't even ask; he just takes charge and pushes Matt into the building. He's the one with all the keys anyway. It's a relief to see that L has taken care of securing the door.]

You should eat. Not much, toast or something.

[Mello's going to make sure he does. He's also going to hide all the booze the second he can do it stealthily, but for now he's trying really hard to stick to neutral, pragmatic topics. He gets the door open and both of them inside.]
