I've got a question regarding translation as well *glaaaring at B* - what about shinigami eyes? Do they come under the city's purview, or not?

- because if names in kanji are romanised, does that mean they'd no longer be effective for death note purposes? And if they aren't (perhaps because they're a form of magic the place isn't familiar with), then it becomes an issue whether characters with the eyes can read kanji or not.

I suspect I know which side will out for this, since nobody's ever going to get a notebook in Disturbia, whereas we've already got a character with the eyes. BUT I WANTED TO ESTABLISH STUFF, OK.

You don't have Death Notes, so it's irrelevant: it's not like the numbers are going to be translated from Shinigami-ese anyway. I'm assuming it's more like "everyone can read kanji whether they could before or not" than "kanji suddenly shows as romaji!"

Y'all are giving me of the headache with these language questions! *WEEPING, WEEPING!*

The main thing is that, as I was saying elsethread: before the question came up, before Egg even had to leave us, people had already done it both ways. The only thing that makes logical sense is that everyone can understand each other with a Babelfish effect regardless.

So if everyone can read kanji - people with the eyes would see "夜神 月" over Light's head and read it as the standard reading Yagami Tsuki (as Misa does at first)?

(I'm going to be shot so hard, but the question is basically "can B ID Light purely by looking at him, or is he going to have to work it out?")

Hah! I can't think of any good reason for the translation effect to automatically give nonstandard readings to text -- it should be good, but not THAT good, right? D:

Still, anyone not stupid might eventually work out that Night God Moon -- Yagami Tsuki -- has a metaphorical connection to Night God Light. This needs to happen, if it does, in a way that isn't so instantaneous as to be metagamey. If B figures it out, he might have to think about it.

Then again, who else in town is likely to be named "Yagami"?

There really isn't any reason I can think of for the Disturbed to develop different powers, but there isn't any reason I can think of for them not to, either; a problem I have as a mod is explaining exactly what "Disturbed" is and isn't to people who are apping without dropping too many spoilers. (It's not exactly AU, and applicants often misunderstand that, but we try to find ways to work it out.)

If you drop a line to the app mailbox with a little more of what you have in mind, we might be able to figure it out privately.

There's a place in the app to make your argument for the Quincy Cross; we usually decide at that time. In general we don't allow weapons or anything that might actually be useful, but meaningful tokens and things that are part of people's clothing are usually allowed.

just here to remind you about putting the bit in about devices for disabled characters*~

I think, honestly, we might need a whole new page describing the devices in detail. I get so many questions about "does it have this button or that button"... I picture it as looking kind of like either an old Game Boy Advance with a QWERTY pad added to it and certain modifications on the buttons....

... or like an enV2, except that I don't think that would work so well for disabled characters.

Curious bitch is curious, sorry.

Can characters get a canon update? Example scenario: Someone dies, and he/she comes back with new memories/abilities after the two week "limbo".

There are a lot more in here, but that's all I can come up with right now for that matter.

Come up with anything you want, as far as questions, and I'll try to answer them! :)

(I just hope everyone is aware that when a question is asked, I kinda have to make up and brain through the answer on the spot. ^^; )

Anyway, I'll have to think about this one and talk it over with the other mod. My inclination is to say yes; sit tight for a definitive answer. There are some logistics to go over. <3

Unhackable messages are available only to characters who have demonstrated hacking (or general computer security) abilities in their canons.

Just as - I mean, obviously I shan't abuse this AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
