Glad we could help! Have you had a chance to grab a copy yet? It's quite a book...

This novel is fantastic and warped. It introduced me to my now-favorite author, AM Homes. Even knowing all this, part of me is hesitant to start reading it again, but I'm also excited to be reacquainted.

This is, thus far, my only Homes experience. It blew me away when I discovered that the author of this book was a young woman! I had my issues with the novel (as is evident in my ridiculously long review, posted below), but she impressed me. What else would you recommend I read by her?

The first book I ever read of hers was called Jack, and was given to me by my mom when I was a teenager. It was a nice, sweet book about a boy with gay dads, If I recall correctly. I guess Ms Holms changed her interests when it came to writing.

I thought it was beautifully written, obviously a lot of writing talent is had. The sexual stuff made me feel actually sick, very graphic for my imagination. Overall I liked it. xxx

I just posted my overlong review below, and YES, this was one of the most graphic books (and graphic about the most twisted things!) I've ever read. I gave it a solid 3/5 stars ("I liked it," says Goodreads) but up until the very end I'd actually expected to give it 4, maybe even a 5. The ending made me nuts!

Ironically, I just read this last month. It's very good.

Good timing! I'm glad I've now read it, despite my petty complaints about it. I doubt I'll ever read another book quite like it, that's for certain...

Every time I see it, I can hear Elmo's laugh. It's mesmerizing.

For those of you not on Goodreads (or not yet on my friend list), I'll post my entire, full-of-spoilers review here.

Please excuse any weird formatting as a result of my c&p job.

Don't read this until you've finished the book! For those who have read the novel before...thoughts? Agree, disagree, think me insane??

THE END OF ALICE - Heather V's Review

This had the makings of greatness, I think. The fact that it sickened me so, made my imagination fill in the (few) blanks left so deliberately here and there with the worst possible scenarios, could've landed it quite easily among the top qualifiers in the Most Disturbing Books Ever Written hall of fame.

[Spoiler (click to open)]It didn't, and it isn't... )
