and then there were two

The after-school scene of classroom 3-6 is currently occupied today. I hope you're enjoying your paperwork, Tezuka, because Fuji's currently seated across from you, jamming away on his Nintendo D*rite with a look of abstract concentration on his face. Which, of course, means that he's probably more focused on figuring out the most efficient angle ( Read more... )

Tezuka is more than a little aware of what Fuji's doing, although it doesn't draw his attention until the light is so dim that blocking it has any real effect. His head lifts from the paper, eyes taking in Fuji silhouetted with the sun behind him, and catches the other teenager's gaze for a moment.

"...I need to finish this before we can leave, Fuji." Aware the other teenager wants his attention but Fuji can wait until he's finished the paperwork for Ryuzaki-sensei. The problem is, he's not sure Fuji will want to and the fact they're alone in the classroom is brought to the forefront of his mind for a moment, just due to the fact Fuji is actually looking at him.

The blue-eyed boy blinks slowly, eyes curving like two, slow and beatific sunrises. He chuckles a little under his breath, which comes out light and airy in the empty room -- there is entirely too much space between the four walls of the classroom to capture an echo. His thumbs twists slightly as the game screen tilts, the character on-screen following suite dutifully.

"By all means, take your time. You won't hear me complaining." There is a smile in his tone as he predicts Tezuka's answer, solid and forth-coming. "After all, I did volunteer to keep you company."

Tezuka stilled at the words, eyes darting to the other teenager before he picked up the papers silently moving to another seat with better lighting. "You're free to go ahead if you'd rather. I'll be fine by myself." His voice gave nothing away, expression closed off as usual.

He settled in the chair, rearranging the papers before he bent his head again, finishing up the lists for Ryuzaki-sensei.

"And leave you here to brood by your lonesome? I think you're misjudging my character." He pushes a few more buttons on his gaming console, having turned his attention to the faintly-lit screen when Tezuka migrated over to a desk just a bit further away. With the desk now suddenly vacant and feeling a little vindictive, he shuffles his chair over so that it braces itself against the wall, and hoists both legs onto the corner of the empty desk.

His thumb moves over the joypad. Up, up, down, left, right, up. "If I left today and came back tomorrow to see that you've added another wrinkle to your worry line collection, I'd be beside myself with guilt."
