A normal Thursday at work. No warnings.
I must say, one of the best things about having a 5-year old is his ability to make his own breakfast.
Little brother stumbles down the stairs in a sleepy haze.
But he perks right up when I get him some cereal and yogurt.
It's Mid-Winter Break week, which means we have a little more time in the morning to look at Angry Birds on the iPad.
I set up some laundry while Olive politely asks to be let out.
Ok... so it's pretty outside, but still bitterly cold. Is it Spring, yet?
Actually-- double digit temps! We're making some progress here.
Make lunch and rush out the door. Drop the boys off at daycare (big boy gets to go on a snow-shoeing outing!) and drive to work.
This picture doesn't really show it, but it was NOT a nice commute. Blowing winds and shifting snow made the roads a little dicey.
Head upstairs to the break room to re-heat my tea. Some of the research faculty in the building have turned the space into a mock greenhouse.
Bathroom self-portrait before settling down to some work.
Just as I'm settling into a good work groove, my calendar pings and I remember I've got a meeting across campus to attend. Crap.
Sneak out early, wolf down some leftovers, then teach for 3 hours.
Try to create some semblance of order before heading out.
Home commute. It's gotten even colder, if that were possible.
Many errands on the way home: first up is gymnastics where I let them know we'll be missing the next three weeks and get make-up passes.
Next up: library
Finally: pick up boys who chatter excitedly as we get stopped by the train.
Home! Blurry chaos ensues for the next couple hours.
Dinner consists of clearing out leftovers from the fridge.
Another awesome example of growing boys: they can put away the ketchup after the meal!
Clean up
Boys finish watching a random movie about sea turtles from last night.
Showing off his "stretching"
Time to get ready for bed!
Showing me his "wiggly" tooth.
The boys go to bed and I use up all the hot water for a relaxing bath.
Then curl up in bed with my new book.
See you in March, DITL!
