A two-day DITL spanning four states and many hours in the car
Day One starts off as usual-- boys watching PBS Kids on the iPad
Breakfast happens
And dishes
It's mid-morning and hotting up. Time to get into the car to begin our journey!
Three hours later, we're nearly at our destination in state #1: Massachusetts.
Thank goodness for AC in the car-- the thermometer is reading 95 F (!!!)
Stop #1: Time to meet the new baby!
Baby J is much happier sans pants
He gives the new parents a (terrifying) glimpse of what their lives will be like in a few short months
J is unimpressed by the tiny baby.
Miss E, sleeping in her crib
J took a nap too
Daddies and babies
Meanwhile, the big boys escape to the cooler basement to play Mario Kart
J gets in on the action too
Baby's first corn on the cob
We head downstairs after dinner, but when this meltdown happens we realize it's time to head out
Heading into state #2!
A much-needed rain shower. The temperature drops by nearly 20 degrees.
Check into our hotel and get into swim suits. Unfortunately, there are two traveling soccer teams and one baseball team also staying at our hotel, so the pool is super crowded. The big boys get a little cooled off, then we head back to our room.
Wine happens
A quartet of baby playing with the mirror
We devour a take-out pizza, then it's time to brush teeth
Looks like it's past bedtime for some little boys!
***** END DAY ONE *****
Apparently, putting a baby down in the morning is unacceptable
We eat a quick breakfast downstairs and spy that the pool is deserted. Quickly get changed and head for some swimming time!
Post-swimming is showers, then time for a little television before second breakfast and getting back in the car
Stop #2: Visiting our adopted grandmother. She allows us to bully her into taking a walk outside since it's much nicer today
The rhododendron outside is GORGEOUS
Grandma J taking Baby J for a ride. He looks grumpy, but was really enjoying every second
All the boys got some time to run around before saying goodbye and getting back in the car
A quick snack before naptime
Heading out of New Hampshire and into state #3: Vermont
Dear Vermont: I love your covered bridges
Look! Another covered bridge!
However, Vermont: I do NOT like your twisting roads. I get very carsick
Thank goodness we're at stop #3: the golf course to visit my uncle
It's nice to get out of the car for a while
Baby J needed to walk some more
Boys each have an apple to help avoid further carsickness. They really enjoy stuffing their faces
This was going to be such a nice picture, until baby J ducked his head!
And... back into the car
When we reach the Big Moose deli, we know we're in state #4 (New York) and getting closer to home!
Ahhh... home sweet home
Putting together a quick dinner
Stinker
We finish out the evening watching several episodes of House of Cards
And everyone goes to sleep
Until June (which is tomorrow!), DITL!
