A very busy seventh birthday party in the life!
It rained overnight and is still gray and overcast early in the morning
I know there's lots to be done, so I start by making a to-do list.
(I add to it throughout the morning)
Daddy cuts foam insulation into smaller boards and we practice to make sure the activity will work during the party. It works just as well as I'd hoped!
"Hi-Yah!"
Time check and corn bread
Post-shower, L is hungry and J is CRANKY
Drop the boys off at Sunday school
Head to the grocery for some last-minute items
Cranky baby is tired and overwhelmed
Church
"Only two more hours until my party!"
Traditional post-church lunch of macaroni and cheese is consumed
I think L was trying to show us how he "winks"
Arrive at the gym and start to set up the party!
Grumpa holds the grumpy baby
Photographic evidence that there was far too much food
The guests became ninjas by learning the "Five Pillars" of Ninja training
I think this was the "Speed" challenge
All the kids had so much fun running, jumping, and climbing
But the biggest hit was the "Power" challenge where they had to break through the foam boards. They all liked it so much, they just kept practicing and breaking the boards into smaller and smaller pieces! It made cleaning up that much easier.
Cranky baby kept getting passed around from adult to adult
"American Ninja Warriors" in training
B was SO EXCITED to have everyone sign "Happy Birthday" to him
After a quick snack, the kids kept running around until it was time to leave
Packing up to head home after a very successful event!
Baby J was so worn out by all the excitement that he immediately fell asleep in his carseat
It was raining pretty heavily again when we got home
Most of the brownies have disappeared
J put the finishing touches on our pulled pork dinner
While waiting for dinner to finish, we decide to open presents
So many wonderful gifts! B is lucky to have such caring friends
At dinner, Cranky Baby magically changes into Happy, Talkative Baby
Plan an upcoming trip to Montreal
Mysteriously, more of the brownies keep disappearing
Ready for bed!
Goodnight, Olive.
