What is your favorite beach and why?

Gulf Shores, AL.

Nice white sand. And my great-grandparents used to live there, 2mi from the beach. So it wasn't just a trip to the beach but a Family gathering with beach and bike rides and the best skillet biscuits ever, and ... yeah, I'd have to say I'm biased. :D

Caladesi Island here in this area. Natural, rather beautiful, unspoiled by condos and the like (it's a state park). Probably not the best beach for beaching, but one of the best beaches for *hiking*.

I love the rocky "beaches" at Acadia National Park in Maine. You can't swim, but the tide pools are fun to explore.

Tide pools are awesome. You can find the coolest sea life.

I was there in 2003 and chased a pod of Sting Rays.
I like how you can just walk across from one side (seaside) to the other side (inland side) of the strip. Plus, they have Great Parties on the beach...

I've never been to Maine. I was talking about Pensacola. I suspect that the beaches there are cold and I don't do well with cold.

Any of the Gulf Coast beaches are Great because of the long out-flow and warm waters.

I did go to the Bahamas (Paradise Island) back in 1987...talk about powder white sand beaches and clear blue/turquoise warm waters!...
