My TV doesn't work (well, the TV does, but the freeview box is deeply temperamental) so I don't watch much actual TV; I tend to download stuff and watch that, or sometimes watch streamed TV on t'internet.

We have LF, we have a Ps3, is it hard to figure out how to watch LF via it?

I watch a riddiculous amount of TV. RIDDICULOUS!

I get in, change into PJ's, cook dinner then bam I'm in bed watching tv/DVD/pc. And it's always on unless I'm out or reading. I really like background noise. It got worse after I lived alone. My silent, empty house that I was used to sharing was too quiet. I then got into the habit of tv until I fall sleep which I still do 3-4x a week. I'll mainly just listen to it but it helps me not be ARGH I CAN'T SLEEP AND HAVE WORK. I can instead be all "it's fine, I'm just relaxing and not forcing sleep". Generally it knocks me out.

What I want to know is whether hours sitting in front of the internet has the same effect...

I'm guessing with the internet at least your fingers, potentially your arms from mouse waving, are getting a small workout :)

Although I think sitting on a couch watching TV, playing on the internet or reading a book can be comparable.

Right now the TV is on all the time as bg noise or because Ryan's plays videogames and watches TV at the same time. I watch some, but the amount I watch has gone down a lot. When I move next month I am buying no cable and will probably not miss it at all (I watch maybe 4 shows and all are available online).
Internet is God :P
