I have so much to say . . .

. . . that my awareness of the time and effort involved in untangling and sorting it into some sort of coherence keeps me from saying much of anything at all. Like, seriously, I just spent twelve minutes staring through my monitor while trying to think of how to say what I want to say about saying what I need to say. As usual, I got nowhere ( Read more... )

I *so* know how you feel!

Automatic writing.

Automatic writing in a word-file, where you just spill what's in your brain - no thought for coherence - onto the page/screen/etc as it comes.

Everntually, if you just keep going, you will talk yourself into circles.

BUT: those circles are, typically, actually a spiral, because you get a little more coherent every time you go around.

It's worth a shot. (Takes a lot of time -- like, say, about five or six hours -- but at the end you have something that kinda-sorta actually makes sense, and you've (probably) said what you need to).

It might also be great if I could scoop out the contents of my mind, spread them out on a huge surface, and push them around like puzzle pieces. Tangibility would be so awesome.

That sounds like a fabulous idea. I can imagine picking out and discarding all the little bits of fluff and nasty memories. Oh man, I wish I could do that.

Oh, I totally get what you mean. I often have issues with expressing myself, which often translates into incessant and somewhat incoherent babbling (as I'm sure you've experienced from me in the past :).

Although one of the nice things about expressing yourself online is that it doesn't have to be done in real time. You can start off as incoherent as you want, but can then go back and edit, move things around, add and delete as required. It may take forever to end up saying what it is you want (especially since a lot of your tone can be lost or misconstrued online) but it can at least be a little more coherent.
