Writing Year in Review

A bunch of folks over at thedailywriter are doing these to kick off the new writing year. My achievements in creative writing during 2008:

• I drafted about 200 000 words of fiction.
  • Half was original fantasy fiction for my NaNoWriMo novel, which has the kernel, I think, of a good book.
  • The rest was split between the beginnings of three fanfics: a Dark Angel, a Dark

You wrote 200,000 words in 2008?? DAMN, girl!! That's AWESOME!! And you have no idea how high I want to squee at the fact that a lot of those words were for Dark Angel fic!!!

I learned that the story element that I refuse from the start to have anything to do with will turn out to be the crucial element that I have to write to make the story work.

You know, this totally happens with me, too. Not so much with my fic, but definitely with my LIFE. Argh. Why, oh why??

Also, I don't really know what writing furry is, and I'm not quite sure I want to, LOL.

lol, well, I don't claim that they're all GOOD words. My drafts are extremely drafty. And also, you'll note, incomplete. Argh.

Furry is a sort of catch-all term relating to anthropomorphic animal kinks. My original novel was about a mail-order marriage between a human man and a troll woman. Furry is so not my thing, so between the fur and the tusks, writing the sex scene really creeped me out.

Yeah, I think I've pretty much got the volumetric skills down. Next up: completion skills.

All I can say is WOW. That's one heck of a list of accomplishments. All I managed to do was complete NaNo and sign up for writing classes. Didn't do much with 2008 in the writing sphere.
