So yesterday was an anniversary of sorts. You see it was Bastille Day and 20 years ago this summer was the first time I learned about Bastille Day at summer camp. In 1989 I started going to this nerdy summer camp for 'gifted' students. It was a bunch of geeks living in a college dorm and taking classes on photography or archeology or math for two, two week sessions during the summer. It was my saving grace throughout junior high and high school and I met some of the most interesting and wonderful people there. For 6 years we all lived for the summer where we were the cool and popular kids. I met my first boyfriend there, fell madly in love with mathematics there and started to figure out who I was.

Bastille Day was the only holiday that fell during those camp sessions and somewhere along the way it became a big celebration for us. So as I've gotten older and started social networking on Facebook I've reconnected with those wonderful people and we had our own little mini-celebration yesterday.  It's incredible to see where all of these kids from small towns in Missouri have found themselves 20 years later. Film makers, lobbyists, english professors, lawyers, psychologists, engineers...... and we all have this one thing in common.

Other than that yesterday I also managed to get my girl trip to Vegas planned. Whoot! 3 weeks before the wedding we are off to get into much trouble and shop. Allegiant Airlines has a buy one get one free to Vegas special going on right now and let me tell you we took advantage of it. I cannot wait.
