philosophy = eudaimonia

Dec 22, 2006 10:39

despite the beginnings of a relationship of detestment and resentment with this wretched city, philosophy brings to my life a new sense of eudaimonia, which funnily enough, was never fully present during my life in academia.

reading over and making revisions to the final chapter of my M.Phil thesis to prepare it to submit to Heidegger conferences all over North America by the first week of January has been unbelievably fulfilling, even whilst standing and leaning on a subway pole on the manhattan-bound Q-train during A.M. rush hours. the thought of giving a paper at a philosophy conference or - dare i say it - being published in a philosophy journal is so core-shaking that all the losing battles I've fought this past year with regards to the M.Phil thesis may just be won. frankly, with all the torturous shit i've been put through by a certain pair of tossers in my former field (whose names i won't mention here) my philosophy ego needs a bit of stroking, and these submissions may just do the trick.
