I disown you all

TWILIGHT IS TERRIBLE.

I don't judge. I continue to read the trainwreck, hoping it gets better and that Edward stops saying things in a quiet, musical voice.

My consolation is that I didn't pay for this drek.

I sit, amused, in the corner watching the complaining. I am not reading Twilight. I don't have time for new books, and if I did, I certainly wouldn't read these.

My 8th grade students seem to love them, however.

You don't have to disown me! Saying Twilight sucks would be an insult to things that suck, I think. The one good thing about it is that, like Harry Potter, it had gotten a lot of kids into ( or back into) reading. The downside is that unlike Harry Potter, there is next to nothing else of even a reasonable quality that is age-appropriate in the genre. And don't get me started on the whole "unrealistic expectations" thing (which is why our adult friends are drawn to this crap, if you ask me).

I'm appreciating your tags, because I had to go searching back to see what people thought of it!

I enjoyed reading the books. It only took a couple days and it was a good distraction. Then I never thought of them again. The only time that I am concerned is thinking about it being popular with the teen audience. I want to ask them, "you know it's not acceptable for someone to talk to you or treat you that way, right?" Us old people, I'm not worried about.
