1. about 3. the OWBN Midwinter, Summerlands pagan festival, and IgnOrigins.

2. I'd say about 100 total. I work one and go cheap for the others.

3. Whether my friends are going. Whether I had fun the last few times.

4. Bad staff, boring programming, not knowing anyone.

1. At least once a month. Usually theater of some sort. At the very least the Shakespeare Theater. If BS ritual counts then once a month of that. Usually there's at least one party I go to in any given month given how often my friends have parties. I have been dragged to cons or gatherings on occasion. So maybe between 1 and 5 given whats going on that month ( ... )

All the above said, I hope to attend Dragon Con this year. It has good entertainment acts, its indoors and air conditioned, and it appeals to all my various hobbies and stuff. Also I want to check out the vending stuff and see if my stuff will be right for it.

I'm going to take this from the reverse end, since I for all intents and purposes no longer attend any events of this nature in person and limit any interaction I have to an online environment. But I want to list why, mostly to highlight key issues which may relate to your upcoming projects (see: things you may want to be aware of ( ... )

1) This last year shouldn't really count- as I haven't really gone to anything much (except Renn Faire). However in previous years I went to anime cons of all types (Otakon, Katsucon, etc.), Renn Faire yearly and Magfest (gaming.) I also used to attend a whole bunch of fetish/kink/bdsm club nights or parties that I will not specifically disclose, but will give a mention to Black Rose's stuff as it was ever classy. I also attend a number of theater shows (mostly musical), from small local to large Kennedy Center. On a busy year I'd say I'd attend events 2-3 times a month, so I guess 24-36 a year ( ... )

3) Great question! I'm not sure how great an answer I can give, though, because it varies a lot from event to event ( ... )

4) TIME!!!! Specifically, work commitments (and now school) often kept me from going to things that I'd otherwise have been at in a heartbeat. Money may actually rank higher (both in the past and now), but it sometimes feels less frustrating than conflicting obligations. Distance/convenience in getting to an event is also a major factor, more so as I've gotten older. I used to be able to happily drive 3-4 hours on Saturday morning, go to the event in the evening, and then drive back home on Sunday -- and be energetic and back in work on Monday; I can't do that any more. I'm still up for driving to Boston or Providence for an evening event (without an overnight stay), but even that can be tricky depending on what my work/sleep schedule is like ( ... )
