He is released on July 31 2008 by INTERNET Co. Ltd, powered by Yamaha's Vocaloid2 program. The company wanted a musician to provide the voice bank for its Vocaloid, but thought it rather difficult to get one who will cooperate. They consulted Dwango (the company managing Nico Nico Douga) and they suggested Gackt since he provided the voice for their cell phone services. Gackt agreed, they got the artist who did Berserk to do the character design, and Kamui Gakupo was born!
Gakupo presents himself as a samurai, dressed in a Jinbaori, and carries a katana named Miburi. You swing it and it makes sounds like a musical instrument... yeah.

Personality? What personality? He's a freaking singing program! Well, it's mostly fandom. But composers who use Gakupo usually like to present him as a bit of a diva, older and more mature than the other Vocaloids (but like a diva, he is prone to moments of tantrum fits), mysterious though pervy at times... Think, Gackt in the form of a musical program and you just about have it.
