The city was alight with Christmas cheer. Decorations, lights, trees, carolers, the whole shebang. People were clogging up the streets, in an effort to escape the chill and return home to their families before the sun finished setting.

Having no family to return to, Sefton wandered. His arm was throbbing from the cold. He ignored it for now, since there was too much time that needed wasting before his last job of the day. He eventually found himself near a little sandwich shack near the park-it was practically abandoned now that the sun was barely peeking past the horizon, which made it the perfect refuge for the hermit in training.

Entering the shack, he quickly found a seat in the back corner and pushed himself into it. He checked to make sure his tarot card was still where he left it (in the outer pocket of his bag), along with the small bauble wrapped up in several pieces of clothing further inside, then relaxed with a quiet sigh. Not much left to do now except let time run its course.

It looked as though his second Christmas Eve away from home was to be just as lonely as his first. It figured, really. After accidentally prying into Chivy's mind, Sefton had tried to place more distance between them, more unsure of their friendship than ever. He didn't think he would be able to survive if Chivy suddenly lost faith in him, and yet... he couldn't help feel the guilt every time he was reminded of what he'd seen. Tamaki had been right (and here, Sefton swore to himself to never allow those words pass through his lips): no one wants to be alone, not really.

But that didn't mean he couldn't want to be only mostly alone.
