I finally broke down and bought the two-disc edition of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. God, I love that movie. Anybody who hasn't seen it should

"I knew Return of the King would do well, but that was amazing."

But I ask myself: is this real justified?? All nominated categories? I am not so sure.

And btw, I think it has cost Johnny Depp the oscar, because they never would award two fantasy films.... aside of the tendency of the Oscar jury not to award comedies very often.

I'm not sure if it's justified either. I love the trilogy and I think that Pete Jackson has really done something incredible. Even if you don't like the films or think they're overrated, you still have to be inpressed with the scope of what he's done. The films are huge, in every sense. No, what irks me about the LotR wins is that I don't think the Academy did what they were supposed to do and that was to consider Return of the King as a seperate film and not give the award to the entire trilogy. In fact, during the awards show, when they were showing the clips for art direction and costume and such, they were showing clips from all three films. I think that all the other filmmakers were at a disadvantage because their one two-hour long film was being weighed against three three-hour long films. Maybe the Academy shouldn't have waited until the last to finally give Jackson the acclaim he deserved from the start
