... Everything appears to be peaceful now, but before you came the city had been reduced to nothing but a crater. Although it was restored, it's possible that something might trigger another event.

Sephiroth was behind its destruction, along with the deaths of countless others in the future. Although he seems to be stable now, I may need your help in preventing it from happening again.

I'm not certain that he could tell you himself.... Perhaps he wanted revenge. Or he might have thought of himself as superior.

Whatever the reason, something has shifted since then. He seemed surprised to learn of what he did. If we knew what took him down that path, we may have a better chance of stopping it.
