Seventeenth Secret: Not a confession

Jul 01, 2010 20:13

[The scene is dark. Aizen is in his house, kneeling before his writing desk. He's cleaned up since the fight, and isn't visibly battered, but his eyes are dark and sunken with obvious tension and lack of sleep. There's something hard in his expression, uncharacteristic almost in the gentle Shinigami. His voice is tightly controlled.]I do not know ( Read more... )

Ah.

[private; unhackable]
A man named Envy shot them. His brother showed the city the confession on tape, after he had left. In the confession, Envy said you were the one to put him up to it.

Believe it or not, I believe you. For once.

Thank you, Sasuke-san... for the information, as well as for your faith. I swear to you, I have never even spoken to this 'Envy' before... although perhaps I should speak to his brother now.

I don't know his brother's name, so I can't really help you with that.

I personally believe that Madara-san's actions were misguided and dictated by blind vengeance. I hold no certitude one way or another as to how the situation became what it is, but this last attack should not have happened and is a tragedy.

[There, that's diplomatic enough to not implicate him while not saying she believes him. She's really not too happy about having had to take care of a broken Hinamori again ... especially since she was too late this time. She might be starting to sparkle a little.]

Even if I grant Uchiha Madara's desire for retribution to be understandable, even had there not been sensible ways to solve this, even - this senseless loss of a life, I cannot let pass -

[Deep breath. Don't want to argue with Unohana, especially when it's clear that it's the last thing she needs right now.]

Unohana-taicho, would you inform me when she wakes?

sorry, didn't get the notif. bunny_flower July 2 2010, 20:11:45 UTC
There will be no retribution for this, Aizen Sousuke. perpetuating the circle of violence will not help. If you try and attack Madara-san, whatever it costs me, you will find me in your way.

This cannot be allowed to continue. If you hold yourself an officer of the Gotei 13 still, then do what an officer would do. Think not of yourself, but of the greater good of the community.

... I can do that. I shall inform everyone.

I promise you, taicho, that I have absolutely no intentions of furthering this conflict, and will certainly not act without thought or in defiance of orders. I... know that this is not what Hinamori-san would have wanted, either. However... I am sure that you know, better than I, that allowing such actions to pass does not encourage peace.

Thank you. It means a lot.

Never speak my name or Uchiha's like that again.

[Oh wow, what a snarl.]

I... have to say your names somehow, sir.

[He wasn't going to bother adressing that at all when he knew the real Aizen was well aware of just how much he was mocking everyone involved.

So he just ended the feed.]

I'd only think of you as an enemy if you retalliate. Please forgive my brother, he's ... not usually this gullible.

I have no desire of perpetuating a cycle of violence. It is best that we not interact while neither of us is... completely rational.

If it's not too presumptuous ... may I interact in his stead? You are not a man he should be enemies with, Aizen-san.

[Softly, quieter now that he's out of the public eye. The cheerful sweet facade drops like a mask and leaves serene calculation in its place;]

I dislike being played a fool, and what I despise even more is seeing perfectly rational men being pulled by puppet strings in pointless directions.

You see it too, don't you?

[In response, Aizen quirks an eyebrow - just the barest hint of a gesture, a flicker of interest and amusement, before answering in a serene voice, one true face to another.]

Quite the observation. Is this how you perceive this to be? Two rational men played into attacking each other?
