quite simply what is conducive to the concept and/or atmosphere of the song. some examples come to mind... -radiohead, no surprises -sigur ros, untitled 1 -chemical brothers, starguitar -daft punk, da funk -nine inch nails, perfect drug -massive attack, teardrop -bjork, unravel -pearljam, evolution
hmmm.. if i list a few of my favorite, most memorable music videos maybe you'd be able to find some commonality between them?
foo fighters - everlong (i can totally relate - it's just like a dream) chemical brothers - let forever be; hey boy, hey girl (both are kind of trippy) feist - my moon, my man (i loved the choreography) ok go - here it goes again (it's a fun video with great choreography) korn - freak on a leash (i loved the special effects and it sort of left an impression on me) michael jackson - thriller (loved the choreography, make-up and story) radiohead - just; paranoid android; street spirit (i loved the mystery of just, the bizarre story behind the animation for paranoid android and the special effects for street spirit) smashing pumpkins - tonight, tonight (it's theatrical and artistically beautiful i guess)
