I would have also thought that the checking would have been done before he was offered the job. That's the way it works with the p'lice, anyway...

Possibly not. But I expect they're very thorough.

And no - his offer depends on a health check (which he's passed) and the security check. So it's almost certain that he'll get to start in Feb, but not definite yet.
