Does anyone know anything about leases and apartments? I know absolutely nothing and I've got a migraine right now trying to figure this crap out. My lease ends on 01/31/2008 and it states we have a 60 day notice period...which we are past now. I've been waiting for the new owners to hand us a new lease agreement, let us know if they're changing ( Read more... )

Hm. Your current lease ought to say what happens after the initial one year period. It seems standard that after one year, you have the option (if both parties agree) to lease for a second year, or else you go month to month. Are you concerned that they're going to kick you out when your lease is up? I don't _think_ they can do that without cause or 60 days notice even when you're month to month. What are you worried is going to happen?

Also, why do you detest Uptown? We were kinda thinking about moving there.

I detest Uptown because it's full of annoying bastard trendy yuppie hipsters. I get woken up frequently around bar close because there are crazy drunken bastards stumbling down the street screaming at the top of their lungs. Less frequently are the people who show up to pick up a friend and sit in the street honking their horn regardless of what time it is. For example, last night there was someone honking their horn and shouting for someone after 1am. I find it annoying, thoughtless and rude as hell to say the least.

Since moving here, I've gone to sushi twice (even though it's only three blocks away) and I frequently will drive to Elk River to go have coffee. It's probably not a good sign that I'd rather drive an hour for a beverage than walk a few blocks. Of course, I've had a bad experience, and my very first apartment no less...so I hate Uptown even more. I never want to live here again and am hoping to get the hell away from here asap.

Well, here's the thing, the lease states on the front that the notice period is 60 days, we're about 30 days from the lease ending and they haven't brought us a new lease to sign or anything. That's the part that worries me, if they're not giving us a new lease, what are they planning to do ( ... )
