I have finished my lantern at last! Not that I really spent that much time on it as I had other more important things to do. And my own sister
Padma was simply too busy with her own lantern to help me find additional lantern instructions in the library. I haven't seen her (or her lantern) today - although the rumor among the Ravenclaws is that she's been working very hard on it.
At any rate, I actually went to the trouble of going to the library and digging up instructions on how to make a lantern. What a bore. Although I have to say that I am somewhat pleased with the results. :) Yes it's rather simple, but I think it's quite pleasantly elegant, too. And it's even appropriately in red and gold - a nice display of house spirit. :)
I'm rather looking forward to tonight - it will be beautiful to see all the lanterns when they're done. It's just too bad that this event couldn't coincide with a dance. That would have been absolutely marvelous - dancing outside in a mix of moonlight combined with the soft light from intricately decorated lanterns. Oh, well. Despite this disappointment, I think the lantern festival will be rather interesting. Hmm. I wonder how mooncakes taste.
Well, I'm off to show Lavender my lantern and see if she has any suggestions for finishing touches.
