Pretty good day!

Today was a perfect early Fall day ~ sunny and not-too-cold or windy!

Well, I spent money that I shouldn't have, but oh well!

James and I went to brunch with his mom and lil' step-bro, Jeremy (lil'... he's like 6'4"! Crazy how fast that kid grows!), who is getting over the Swine Flu (AAAAAAACK!). I had my usual Family Pancake House order - Eggs Benedict with Phillips' Maryland Crab. Yum! I got regular pancakes instead of my usual fave, the Swedish Pancakes... the regular ones are yello! They must have corn flour in them. Anyway, they were too much - I took 2 out 3 home for later.

Then we went discount-shopping - Burlington Coat Factory, Sears, Fred Meyer... We stopped at a Jo-Ann Fabrics, so I could get some "Kiss-Off" fabric cleaner (b/c I totally got mural paint all over my fave H&M shirt a few weeks ago...) and the store reeked HORRIBLY of Very Bad Very Cheap Potpourri and Scented Candles. My eyes were watering, my throat was burning, and I had to cover my nose and mouth... while I waited for some chatty fabric cutter to kindly tell me where in the store it was located. Well, they don't have it. She told me to go to Pacific Fabrics, which is a helluva better fabric store, anyways, stupid cunt.

The other stores produced for me several pairs of socks for the impending cold weather, some blank notebooks and various much-needed toiletries, and a nice new pair of boots! They actually almost zip all the up - they go about 3/4 of the way up to my knee. Woohoo! They are flat, square toe, black with three straps and buckles.

We went to Mud Bay Granary to pick up some cat food for my friend Nik, and I also got a new Feathers-on-a-string-attached-to-a-Stick cat toy thingie, for mine.

We went to the Car Tabs Place, where James paid $91.xx for his $30-dollar-tabs, and I grumbled about the fact that I need to buy new ones too but can't until I go downtown and get proof of payment for some stupid parking ticket I got last year. Parking Ticket! Downtown! No parking, shitty hours, I can't get my ass outta bed before work to get down there and do it-downtown.

Then we went to my favourite store to shop - MONSTER, in Ballard (the old Scandinavian part of Seattle that is being taken over by hipsters and foodies). This store is owned by an artist/crafter, and she sells all hand-made artist's goods there. Clothes, accessories, original paintings, art prints, etc. I bought:

  • a really adorable hat! It's a black low-over-the-ears-style cap with white Japanese writing graffittoed on it, a red flower pinned on the left side at the edge of the brim, and a small brim that folds up-to-down in a twenties/thirties flapper-style. I <3 it!
  • a red tote bag with a black crow block-printed on it (I have an addiction to bags)
  • a pair of black leggings with cranberry cherry blossoms printed on the sides
  • a button of a black sheep
a pair of grey "gloves" - they are more like knit wrist-warmers, with no finger-holes, but covers the lower knuckles.

There was more that I wanted... but I restrained myself. I got a bumper sticker too - it says "It's Dangerous at Monster" - which it so is, b/c I always spend money there! I flipped a little when she said my total cost was "One Hundred Seventy Four", but she meant $100.74, not $174.00! LOL. Whew! James also got a cool white-on-black T-shirt that has a cartoon guy with a gun and some words I forget... and he got a cute knit black knit cap with white printed designs on it, too.

Once we got home, we watched "Blades of Glory" and I crashed out on the couch about 10 minutes into it... LOL.
