I don't think you can catch what he evolves from in the wild. Or at least that I've seen so far, they might be far ahead.
[Yuri just lucked out and got him as his starter.]

You must have been as lucky as me to get a fire type. You could have gotten something else instead, I'm sure the gyms in other cities are much stronger.

Yeah, I guess until I run into a water based opponent I'm good with Lambert here. I hope the gyms are stronger later on, it's kind of boring to fight the same low level pokemon constantly.

Or rock and ground types.

At least once you get out of the forest, you should find a stronger opponent hopefully.

Eh, I guess I'll fight 'em when I do. Not like I don't have other pokemon that have the advantage over them.

I hope so, though I kinda miss fighting people and monsters myself.

Nope not yet, just a bunch of weak bug and grass types so far.
[If there's anything else besides that lurking about the forest, he hasn't encountered them yet.]

Probably, from what I've seen the pokemon change the farther you go one so there's bound to be something more useful. Yeah, after you get your badge we'll be moving on.

I've heard tell that there are stronger, rarer Pokemon that hide in the trees around that area, but you need a move called "Headbutt" to force them out into the open.

I wouldn't mind a battle. Just depends on when you get here, since I'm leaving as soon as my friend gets his badge.
