The main thing I remember wanting to be was an archaeologist.  I think this was probably due primarily to the Indiana Jones films and not any particular interest in the science, initially. Although, once I become interested, I spent a lot of time reading about

I think being an archeologist would be fascinating. Alas, I'm not good enough in science.

Those cards sound like flash cards. It'd be cool if you could find them.

They were a bit like flash cards in that one side was just a big picture of the animal and its name. But the other side had lots of details--species and genus, where it lived, etc. It was like a tiny encyclopedia article on a card.

I had a friend who was really interested in becoming an underwater archeologist. I haven't talked to him in a while, though, so I don't know if that actually worked out for him or not.

I had those wildlife cards. I loved them, even though I was too little to read.
