Cooties

Sometime around junior high, all my elemtary school friends became interested in skateboarding and pro wrestling. Being the the younger version of the slightly effeminate guy that I am now, this lead me to sort of reject teenage males as being stupid. I found I couldn't really relate to a large group of guys talking about "guy stuff." I found ( Read more... )

My sister told me that this entry makes it sound like I am against team sports. Let me clarify. This is definitely not the case. Being on a team is a great experience for lots of people. I am just expressing another reason why they are not for me.

i find your entry very interesting, true in very many respects. However, and im sure you must have been expecting this, your list does contain certain inaccuracies. Im sure your aware your list does not apply to all members of each gender, I just think it would have been wise to indicate this understanding. I'm not sure why you didnt, perhaps you werent aware just how large a quantity this list does not pply to, or perhaps you really were jsut ignorant(which i doubt, so no offense). without this acknowledgement(sp) your point comes across as more sexist than neccessary, and althoguh your essay does address gender i do not think this is the sort of sexist image you wished to portray. Fortunately people knwo you well enough not to interpret it so poorly. But just imagine a total stranger reading about how you seperate the genders ( ... )

Obviously there are exceptions to any generalization that you can make. I try to be an exception to the generalizations I myself made here. I guess I thought I wrote it that way by using the word "tend." Most of the time, these sort of things that I write do not totally apply to specific people, but I think that there are parts of this in everyone.

I find it curious that my point came across as sexist, when I was saying that both genders can be stupid, and that genders shouldn't really be seperated. I used the first two paragraphs to show views that I had in the past that I have since realized to be false.

In conclusion, I pretty much like everybody, even though everyone is only human.

jsut to explain, what i meant by sexist was... well youre not so much offensive as just the fact that youre seperating the genders, categorizing. again i dont mean to say what you pointed out is untrue, i happen to agree. I got the point you indended quite well, but im trying to imagine if the person never even laid eyes on you. it certainly isnt offensive but you may not come accross with a positive image in the end. does that make sense? i just have this feeling really.

love you though

I guess it makes sense, but I still say that I wasn't trying to seperate the genders anymore than society already seperates them. More the opposite actually, I wish people didn't try to seperate the genders.

I guess the reason what you are saying makes me feel weird is that it seems like you are getting something from my writing that is almost the opposite of what I intended.

it all really depends on the approach to the writing. sorry for making you feel weird. I promise i didnt get the opposite of what you intended. I just really mean to sya tehre are ways to make it clearer. but its still there and i did get it. but whatever. congrats on graduating, youll have to tell me what yale is really like next year.
