I'm planning on going to ComicCon (San Diego) next year, and I'm hoping to get as many LJ friends as possible to come with me!

That's one I'd love to go to, but it seems way out of my price range at the moment. I about had a heart attack when I saw the hotel prices in the San Diego area. I'm spoiled with the Biloxi and New Orleans 3-4 star hotel prices at < $150. Airfare from Pensacola wasn't bad though, only $300.

I'm seriously considering the New Orleans Comic Con, May 14-15, 2011. The artist that did Connor Hawke: Dragon's Blood will be one of the featured guests. Rooms are $169, and the admission is only $30. And I can drive, and not even take a full day off work.

I of course pull for New York Comic Con as I am a hometown CityGal. and not only do you have the con but a whole host of tourist like activities. During the off season (it's being held October 14-16 2011) prices can be reasonable especially if you don't mind traveling a bit.
Good luck in making your decisions

October up north sounds like a great plan to me, especially if I can combine it with a visit home and drive rather than fly. I've only been to NYC once, I was 15 and my Aunt got us lost in an scary neighborhood. But to a kid that had never been in a city with more than 75,000 people, it was awesome.

If your plans shape up to your visiting NYCC let me know and we can plan on meeting up and doing a meal or something.
