well, due to my aunt and uncle's negative disposition towards the commercial aspects of Christmas, i have not been given a present. instead they have sent me a certificate saying that the money has gone to help a needy family buy a sheep. my other cousin's present went towards a goat ( Read more... )

that is one of the funniest things i have ever heard in my LIFE. but think about it...you can feel good about helping buy a sheep without even DONATING any money! so you didn't really lose anything.
but that's still hilarious.

my mom bought a goat for that too. she thought it was funny, so she did. and now she owns part of a goat that's somewhere on the other side of the world.

haha. that's great. and good for her. i guess i own part of a sheep somewhere too. it would feel a lot better though if I had chosen to do it though.

Goats are actually quite expensive. We could only afford baby chicks. Laugh all you want, but I think it's great when we can help poor families. We're pretty spoiled here in the US of A.

i'm quite aware how spoiled we are. and yeah it's pretty gross, it disturbs me. but still, i would MUCH rather give money to charity if it was MY CHOICE. it would feel WAY more rewarding and special. i feel happy for that family, but i feel no sense of accomplishment in myself.
