I think I was fighting back tears for the last 20 pages. I can see so much of myself in Idgie and Ruth. Idgie's the tomboy side. I bought the book Saturday afternoon and I've almost finished it. There are a lot of comical parts, thank goodness, because there are also a lot of depressing parts. I talked to an old friend tonight. I still can't keep my mouth shut around him. I'm such an idiot sometimes. I'm not sure if I expected him to just snap his fingers and make it all ok--nobody can do that. I get it. Really. But old habits die hard. He's still a great friend. Again, some things will never change.
