Cloth Pads

Hello,

I was searching for help and came across this group. I am allergic to commercial pads and I'm about at the end of my rope. I have never tried a cloth pad before....I actually had never heard of them before. Thank you Ladies!

I didn't buy any flannel, but I think my mom has some left over fleece I could try for the bottom, if PUL won't work well. I'd rather follow caution instead of having an accident. Maybe I'll make one with a PUL bottom and one without and see how it goes.

I hadn't thought of making one to try first. I am so glad you brought that up. I would be deeply hurt if the style wasn't right and I'd wasted my fabric. I am going to follow your advice and make one to try first and then go from there.

I forgot to mention that I also have cotton batting. I went out and purchases everything I'd read was really good for cloth pads hehehe. I don't want to walk around wearing a pillow though, so I think I'll leave the batting for potholders or something since the Bamboo should be absorbent enough.

I'll probably be back with more questions as I try and figure this out.

Thanks again!!

I put my pads in the dryer on low all the time, my bamboo ones don't get quiet dry from that. I usually have to hang them up for a while as well. You should be sure to machine wash and dry your fabric before you do any cutting and sewing, though, so that your pads won't shrink after you've made them.

So glad you mentioned washing first. I had forgotten about that! I read your message just before I was getting ready to start making one. Pheeeew, just in time. :)
