I made my first!

I did an AIO with channels.  I was able to use the shell of my son's  outgrown worn out coat as waterproofing...not quite PUL, but not too far off. :-) a couple of old washcloths folded into 4 layers and some remnant batik from Joannes to top it off.  I meant for the backing to be black waterproofing, but I got the layer order wrong for the turn/ ( Read more... )

Like you said: but it's pretty!

I myself am really, REALLY tired of the yard of topping I've been going through lately.. it's polyester moleskin, which makes for a great dry layer, and it's mostly all red and black flowers with a little bit of purple.. great stain-hider, but very oppressive to look at after a while. So I comfort myself with picking up pretty remnants for the bottoms. n.n Right now I've got this beautiful sun-and-moon-and-stars handkerchief I can't wait to cut up!

Yay you! :)

The top fabric is beautiful, I love it? Is it cotton?
Congrats on thinking on using bra hooks to solve the wings problem.

yes, it's cotton. It's just a flat weave, so I hope it absorbs quickly enough. I made two more with a navy Egyptian cotton velour on top (I snuck off with one of our good hand towels) so the absorbing layers are sewn on top instead on inside. So far in my dry-run tests, I think the velour on top is more comfortable. I'll only know what I like best later this month. ;-)

Cute, using bra hooks is a great idea. For some things, I think menstrual pads are one, function matters more than perfection.

The bra hooks work in theory. In my dry run, I didn't have any slippage problems, but when I went to take it off, the hooks had popped open.

In this situation, you could sew a button on one side and make a loop with a scrap of ribbon for the other. It might hold better.
