...indian summer _is_ in late september, but it always gets cold before it gets to indian summer. there is hope, still.

Every year, people get really surprised at how warm it is in mid-late September. Every year. You'd think the idea of "Indian summer" would have become incorporated into the culture at some point.

Same thing when we get a decent warm spell in March or early April, and then it goes back to being cold for another 3-4 weeks before it really starts heating up again. Every year, people are surprised when it gets cold after that early warm spell.

Ah, human nature. How you amuse me. *grin*
