A rainy day deserves a writing meme

Post the first lines from your last 20 10 stories. Do you see a pattern?

...I don't have twenty recent ones (which shows how often my habit to write hibernates), so I'm throwing up ten of them along with some ancient stuff too.

1.  Old leaves along with a few branches fed the small source of light.

2.  All she could hear was the blood pumping in her ears.

3.  "Can you crack the crates, Haus?  You know I'm useless when it comes to these things."

4.  The hoe fell into the ground with a heavy thud.

5.  She had no time to think.

6.  Crime never slept.

7.  She's already running for the opposite side of the room when the Blue Suns begin firing.

8.  "Here, let me take a look," she sighed, holding out her hand.

9.  She inwardly wondered how it would feel.  (from 2006)

10.  I sighed and took another look into the mirror.  *maims first person POV* (from 2004)

Lots of "she"s up there, but honestly, I write women more than men.  I always worry about getting into the proper mindset.  In fact, only one of those is from a male POV.  Interesting.  Only a couple of them are talking about the setting as well.

The real truth here?  I still need LOTS of practice.  Some of the older stuff is fright-inducing.
