Han Solo, "Star Wars"

"Some ride there, wasn't it?" Han says, grinning. His grin slowly fades, however, when he realizes he's not on the Falcon. A moment later the memory comes back; he was just getting off when everything started to feel hazy and faint. And now he was...

Somewhere he was absolutely sure he'd never been before. Uh-oh.

Mickey coughs theatrically. "'What is your name?'"

Han looks around, more than a little confused. "Anybody there?" he says, one last time. "Chewie? Anyone?" When he sees Mickey for the first time, his eyes go wide and he jumps a little. "Han Solo," he says, as easily as he can manage. An animated character he hasn't seen before is talking to him. And it doesn't look like a hologram. He's seen a lot of weird things in his lifetime, but this is definitely pretty high on the weird list.

"What is your quest?" asks the Cat. It's perched, suddenly, on the roof of one of the gate-stiles.

"To get outta this place. Hey, pal, which way's the exit?" For that matter, which way is the entrance? How did he even get here? Still stunned, he gives voice to the second question: "How'd I even get here?"

"'What is the average w..?'" Mickey frowns down at the notebook. "You know, I don't really see why that's important." He flips a page. "'If you could be granted three wishes, what would they be?'"

Wishes, huh? "I guess my first wish would be to -- Wait, what's a genie?" Han asks. He'd been around the galaxy; if there was some race or creature or occupation hiding out in the far reaches of space, he would have a probably have heard of it by now.

"Or," the Cat says, examining its tail with interest, "if you were a genie and someone you were trying to give three wishes to was trying to trick you into giving him more, what would you say?"

The interrogation just continues without any answer to his questions. And a really, really bizarre interrogation it is, too. Despite not knowing what a genie is, Han does his best to answer the question. "I'd probably tell him to take it easy, and to just be grateful he was getting any wishes out of me at all."

Mickey looks rather nonplused at the next, but reads, "'When the revolution comes, what skills will you be able to barter for food?'".

Hasn't the revolution already come? Han has distinct memories of being part of it. But he tries to answer the question anyway. They're not answering his questions, and the sooner he gets this whole thing overwith, the sooner he can leave. "Hey, you pick up a few things smuggling that can help you out later on." No need to go into specifics...

The Cat rolls its eyes in a friendly (and rather disconcertingly out-of-sync) way, and asks, "Milk, dark, or white chocolate?"

"Milk, I guess." He's hardly a chocoholic, at any rate. "What does that have to do with anything?"

"'Choose the two coolest: robots, pirates, fairies, bears, ninjas, monkeys, vampires, or humans,'" says Mickey, giggling a bit as he goes through the list. "'Explain.'"

"Humans and robots," Han says, without missing a beat this time. "Robots can be a pain, but where would we be without 'em? And humans... well, some of them can be a pain, too, but I'm one." Leia's one, Luke's one, a lot of other people are one. On the whole, humans aren't so bad.

Still. Too bad Wookiees aren't an option.

"Great!" Mickey flips through the blank pages of the notebook at top, cartoon-y speed. "Well, I think that's just about it! Oh, and I'm supposed to ask, 'for your safety: are you carrying anything sharp?'"

"No," says Han honestly. He looks at his gun. Well, they did ask about sharp things, and a gun is not, technically, sharp.

((Han is taken from after the original triology, but before any of the novels. Because I've never read the novels. ._. Sorry, SW buffs.

I'm also v. v. sorry if this sucks, because I only got around to re-watching "A New Hope" and "Empire Stikes Back" last night. I'll try and re-watch "Return of the Jedi" soon. But enough excuses. Onward and forward and upward and... a bunch of other -wards.))
