timetravel to 2020

Jul 24, 2008 20:13

I was sitting on the train today, bored as (obviously), when I started flicking through the calendar on my phone for the year 2020. Now, first of all it seemed like ages away, but then I realised that it's really only 12 years, so I figured I'd go through and see how old everyone would be turning that year. Wow, talk about freak out!! Especially ( Read more... )

I don't want to be 34. I'm guessing I don't have a lot of choice though. oh well.

I know what you mean! These years right now are flying by--how much faster will time by passing in 12 years?

I'll be turning 40 *sob*, and my girls will be almost grown.

I've decided I don't want to think about 12 years from now--it's kind of depressing (though I'm sure we'll have our own house by then!).

40 does seem old when you're only in your 20s but it really is ok. :P it's the over 50 bit that stumps me. we resent growing old. i think it has something to do with what cs lewis says when he is talking about Eccl 3: 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men... We were made not to age, but here on earth we do. It seems not right. I think this is the quote: “If I discover within myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world” C.S Lewis

I really like that quote! I can see the truth in it, though, and really, I try not to worry about getting older. It's going to happen and there's not much I can do to change that. At least I've been blessed with a wonderful husband and (almost) three wonderful girls. There are many people my age who don't have those things. Plus, I know that every day just brings me that much closer to heaven.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Oh, I know! In 2020 I will be 37. Duuuude. 3 years from 40. I bet I will have at least 3 kids by then. I remember when my dad turned 40. We had a big party for him. I'm not ready to be that old!

Good thing I still have 12 years, eh? =o)

Yeah I remember my Dad's 40th as well :) I can't imagine it either, but I guess once we're there it will just be like everything else in life... we'll be ready once it comes. Yep, 12 more years for you! 20 for me... Heh, that sounds ok!

Wow! How cool to think of 12 years time! I hope we'll be having cousin get-togethers with all the little second cousins running around... and not so little- 13 year old Amelia will be there mothering all the younger ones.

I can't wait to see who you marry! Will be fun!
