Dumb stuff that I love

A couple of friends on LJ were looking for info on Dr. Who (Jan, Kat?). This is a good intro article that will spare them from attempting to watch 40 years of television. It hits the high points and recommends the best episodes... note that there are no recommendations between "Earthshock" and "Rose" which means that, according to this reviewer, ( Read more... )

Where are you from?

Another planet.

Netflix on demand is positively chock full of Dr. Who content these days. As a long time fan of the series it's been great to go back through the classics.

Great link. I agree with the author's thoughts on the doctors, most especially Colin Baker, who always bugged me as being the dick of the batch. This quote cracked me up:

"Davison's replacement was Colin Baker, a decent-enough actor who got stuck with the least-appealing personality of any Doctor, and the worst costume in the entire history of television itself."

Yeah, I remember Colin Baker as really grouchy, which is weird for someone in a clown suit. I thought Sylvester McCoy was fun, but the writing had become so bizarre, even for Who. I watched The Curse of Fenric last year... ug.

I actually only ever saw one or two of the Sylvester McCoy episodes. Like many others I think I had all but given up on the franchise at that point. I have heard good things though so I'm sure I'll revisit his Doctor at some point.

I'll just go ahead and give The Cure of Fenric a big skip then. :)
