HP Lovecraft liked to write of horrors from the beyond, describing them with terms such as "non-euclidian geometry" or "colors outside the visible spectrum". While these descriptions were meant to invoke a sense of terror and the unknowable, we actually come across colors outside the "visible spectrum" in our everyday lives and most people don't ( Read more... )

This is very interesting, and the image of blue, green and red spectral peaks explains Daltonism very nicely.

A friend and I have just had an interesting experience with artificial light: we sent the "white" light from a mobile phone camera to reflect off a CD, and it beautifully dissolved into the RGB colours.

Wow, this is SO COOL. I guffawed at your paragraph about magenta. I think I got the hyperbolic colour? I don't think I got any of the others.
