People on Livejournal: "Oh my god! Livejournal has enabled cross-posting now so that people can post comments and things directly onto their Facebook or MySpace! It's potentially a complete invasion of privacy! It'll be the end for Livejournal for sure! I'm walking away in disgust!"

People on Facebook and Myspace: "What's Livejournal?"

It does appear to be a clusterfuck in some respects, forwarding chunks of locked posts to unauthorised people and putting your full FB name in your LJ profile.

Although neither of those are related directly to the repost facility itself.

It is similar when certain types go on about their personal details that they put online being 'stolen'. Is there someone out there that forces people to put their names, work details and home address online?

Not unless they want to, say, order a DVD or register to vote online, or maybe fill out a tax form.

Not all "online" is equal.
