...don't you think the timing is just a little coincidental? The democrats are running high with Gallup polls showing Kerry up 3% after their national convention and then, two days later, the incumbent government releases impossible-to-confirm reports that something may happen to several buildings, and the warning will remain in effect until the elections on Nov 2. Let's increase the fear in the populace in several mainly-democratic areas (NY and NJ - why would a terrorist give a crap about NJ? When was the last time anyone considered the armpit of the nation a 'symbolic target'?) and ride that fear through our RNC, which we will hold in NYC (a city in which the majority of the people are not GOP supporters) in order to take advantage of residual 9/11 feelings. Pretty damn shady if you ask me.
Fear is a dirty weapon to use to manipulate your own people.

Ask your brother. The real polls matter, and those're the ones we don't even get to see :)
Aside from that, however, you do bring up a good conspiracy-theory. Your alliegance to the Democrats, unfortunately, jades your opinion! :) Bush will win, and there's nothing you can do to stop it!

ughh..people like you always do this...its always a "right wing conspiracy"...just like the whole monica lewinsky thing...hillary claimed was a "right wing conspiracy"...its ridiculous that you would think the government would do something like that to win the election..as much as you hate george bush i REALLY dont think he's the kind of man that would instill that kind of fear into his people just to win an election..and by the way do you think terrorists care where they hit? NJ has people, and they want to kill people...so the conspiracy bullshit doesn't really work..

ha ha, I don't believe you used my own weapon against my brother...anyway, um, yeah, our government, as well as arguably every other government in history, has used fear and manipulation to achieve whatever goal is in mind. In our system, a politician can either instill passion in the people to follow him or he can be dragged around by the various desires of the entire population. Which would you choose?
I'm not claiming that this is necessarily a bad thing since a politician is a leader and not a servant of the people.

Sounds a little edgy, but it makes sense to me.
Argh, bitch!
