Here's my spoiler-free commentary for Inception: If you're going to to see it, take some advice. While you're watching, if you notice something that doesn't make sense, don't obsess over it. Totally forget about it and go along with the crazy movie's crazy logic, because the movie is much more enjoyable that way. Just let it go, man ( Read more... )

Agreed on both counts. Basically an action/suspense movie with some cool but not consistently-executed concepts bolted onto it. Enjoyable enough if you don't try too hard to put all the pieces together.

The last 10 minutes kind of fell apart. Who was the fifth jump? Did they jump into Fischer or Mal or Cobb? What would Mal be doing in Fischer's sub-sub-sub conscious, especially before Cobb even got there? Why was it even necessary to go one level deeper if all they needed to do was hit Fischer with the defibulator?

Also, guns. Is it like Matrix rules, where you decide what you want but once you get in there, you only have what you brought in? In which case, why didn't think bring in invisibility shields? Because they knew the bad guys would all have the aim of stormtroopers?

See? Totally falls apart.

I tended to view them through an RPG character filter. If they've invested enough of themselves in their weapons, or an anchor, or whatever (i.e. they paid CP for it) then it comes with them. Cobb is never without a gun of some sort, generally the same pistol + silencer combination, except in reality/the top layer.

Similarly, if it's a disadvantage they got CP for - like Cobb got CP for Mal - then it comes with them (whether they want it to or not.)

But then, I'm prone to viewing things that way, and also I was just going along with the weirdness.
